P76M water system project in Marawi underway, says official
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will be put up a P76-million water system project in war-torn Marawi City, an official said.
Assistant Secretary Kristoffer James Purisima of the Office of Civil Defense said the project is funded by DILG’s “Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig Para sa Lahat” or the Salintubig Program.
He noted that recently the DILG conducted the turnover of the 76-million peso fund to the City Government of Marawi for the said project.
The water system project aims to provide potable water for 2,156 households in the conflict-affected city, Purisima said.
The presentation of program of works and detailed engineering designs was done last July 4.
The project will be implemented between July 2018 and December 2019.
The government has been undertaking rehabilitation in Marawi City, which was heavily damaged by the fighting between the government troops and Maute-ISIS terrorists last year.
