Osmeña says public outcry to be credited for non-VIP treatment of shooting suspect
Without the public outcry, David Lim, Jr., a member of an affluent family in Cebu City and suspect in the shooting of a male nurse over the weekend, will be enjoying special treatment while at his detention cell.
This was said by Cebu City Mayor Tomas “Tommy” Osmeña in an Interaksyon report March 22.
“If there were no public outcry I will make a bet he will have an air-conditioned room. But because everybody is watching, the best that they can do is to just separate him from the others,” the politiko said.
Lim was arrested for shooting and wounding nurse Ephraim Montalbo Nuñal following a traffic altercation on F. Sotto Street in Barangay Kamputhaw over the weekend.
His father, David Sr. is the youngest of the four Lim siblings. The eldest is Peter who gained notoriety recently after President Duterte identified a certain “Peter Lim” as among the biggest drug lords in the country.
It can be remembered that the Cebu City mayor accompanied police in pursuit operations against the younger Lim after a judge refused to issue an arrest warrant for the latter.
