NPA apologizes for killing baby in Bukidnon; ‘Di daw sinasadya
Communist New People’s Army rebels are apologizing for the death of a four-month-old baby during their ambush on police in Bukidnon last week.
The NPA also offered to indemnify the families of civilians who were caught in the crossfire during their ambush, which targeted Lanao del Sur police personnel.
“The NPA-North Central Mindanao Region expressly extend their condolence to and are asking for forgiveness from the relatives of the slain and wounded civilians,” said Ka Malem Mabini, spokesperson of the NPA North Central Mindanao Region.
“Whether we like it or not, the process of continuing a civil war entails certain unavoidable circumstances such as what happened,” he added.
Earlier reports said that during the ambush last Nov. 9, a sport-utility vehicle passed through the NPA’s blocking force.
At the time, the NPA had targeted a patrol car of police personnel from Amai Manabilang in Lanao del Sur province.
Mabini claimed the NPA blocking force tried to flag down the SUV but “to no avail.”
Wounded were passengers Ali Citi, 53; and Ali Aminsalam, 37. The baby was also inside the SUV.
Killed was SPO3 Arnel Carillo was killed while wounded were SPO1 Nathaniel Ibal, SPO1 Pacifico Cabudoy and Amai Manabilang police head Inspector Joven Acuesta.
