A Filipina faces the death penalty in Sabah after she was caught with three kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth RM240,000 (P3.029 million) in Tawau there before dawn Thursday.
Tawau police chief Asst. Comm. Fadil Marsus said the Filipina, 55, was arrested in a wooden house in Kg Pengkalan Wakuba along the Apas Road in Tawau at 5:30 a.m.
He said the woman’s case is being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, where a conviction may mean execution.
But he said the woman tested negative for drugs and had no prior criminal records.
Investigation showed the woman was arrested in a room of the house where police also found shabu inside six plastic bags.
Meanwhile, Fadil said that they were also looking for certain other suspects.
