Mindanao-based bishops hope to meet with Pope Francis when they go to Rome for an inter-faith dialogue between September 14 and 16.

The bishops will be with some Muslim leaders in attending the dialogue organized by the Italy-based lay organization “Community SantEgidio.”

“Hopefully by that time ay nakabalik na si Pope Francis from Colombia. Hopefully on the 16th sa hapon, they are trying to make arrangements,” Bishop Edwin Dela Peña said on Church-run Radyo Veritas.

He said he will be with Cotabato Archbishop Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, and Cagayan de Oro Archbishop Antonio Ledesma in the trip.

Dela Peña said they hope to discuss with the Pope the situation in Marawi City.

“It is very important to us to hear the message of the Holy Father para mabigyan kami ng lakas to go on. Also the hope to strive to rebuild our church, kasi talagang lugmok ang simbahan,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said they may also meet with overseas Filipino workers in Rome and update them on what is happening in Mindanao.
