Mayor Sara, other Davao Region local chief execs visit fire victims in Jolo, donate P5M
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has led the handing over of P5 million worth of checks for families who were displaced by a fire in Jolo, Sulu last month.
Duterte-Carpio, along with Davao del Norte Governor Anthony del Rosario and Davao Occidental Governor Claude Bautista went to Jolo Thursday, August 9, to visit the families affected by the fire.
The P5 million donation came from Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao Occidental, Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental, according to the provincial government of Sulu.
The presidential daughter’s group also distributed school bags to 410 elementary students affected by fire, it said.
She also promised to help in the construction of the damaged school buildings.
Acting Governor Nurunisah A. Tan welcomed Duterte-Carpio and the other local chief executives and toured them around the provincial capitol.
Over 24,000 individuals were displaced and more than 3,000 houses in Jolo were razed by fire on July 24.
President Rodrigo Duterte also visited earlier the displaced families and promised to build new homes for them.
