Marawi gov’t moves 138 displaced families from Iligan to new site
The Marawi City government has expressed gratitude to Iligan City led by Mayor Celso Regencia for hosting 138 displaced families who transferred Saturday to a new site.
The families were evacuees in the Sta. Elena Bayanihan Gym, Maria Cristina Gym, Buru-un School of Fisheries and Buru-un Gym evacuation centers in Iligan.
Marawi government said it wants to give these families “new environment,” which is “closer to their home.”
The residents were among the thousands of people displaced due to Marawi siege last year.
“While hosting IDPs (internally displaced persons) is not something new to the people of Marawi, this is different however as they themselves are the ones affected. Hence, we will still be needing everyone’s patience and understanding as we try to cope with this enormous condition that we continue to face,” it said.
