Mainam nang handa! ARMM now preparing for ‘La Niña’ effects

A ranking official of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao-Department of Interior and Local Government (ARMM-DILG) announced they have started preparations to mitigate the effects of the incoming “La Niña” season.

This was disclosed by ARMM-DILG regional secretary Atty. Noor Hafizullah Abdullah in a statement Tuesday, October 11.

The politiko added that his office has already convened local government units (LGUs) since May to carry out disaster preparedness measures.

“We already coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF-ARMM) for us to be prepared to address the ill effects of La Niña,” Abdullah stressed.

He added that preparations against La Niña include programs on agriculture, flood control, food security, and disaster risk reduction measures.

Maguindanao and Lanao Del Sur are two ARMM provinces that very vulnerable to rain-induced calamities like flash floods and landslides.
