Gunmen kill Tawi-Tawi town vice mayor
Motorcycle-riding gunmen shot dead the vice mayor of Sapa Sapa town in Tawi-Tawi province Wednesday, July 11.
Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) said Vice Mayor Alrasid Mohammad Lipae, 53, was gunned down at Gov. Alvarez, Camino Nuevo, Zamboanga City in front of Perla Insurance at about 5:05 p.m.
Also wounded in the incident was the vice mayor’s escort identified as Police Officer 1 Abdulmurib Ilahan Hadjirul, 34.
Ali sustained several gunshot wounds on his chest and was brought to Doctors Hospital for medical treatment. But the victim was declared dead on arrival.
The Tawi-Tawi vice mayor was the fourth top local executive who was killed in less than two weeks.
On July 2, Mayor Antonio Halili of Tanauan City in Batangas was killed during a flag-raising ceremony. On the following day, Mayor Ferdinand Bote of General Tinio in Nueva Ecija was ambushed in Cabanatuan City. Last Saturday, Vice Mayor Alex Lubigan of Trece Martires, Cavite was also killed.
