Find out the 9 House members who asked Mark Villar to stop P8.7B road scam
Even before whistlebower Roberto Catapang Jr. surfaced, several legislators led by House Deputy Speakers Ferdinand Hernandez and Bai Sandra Sema sought an end to the road right of way scam (RROW) in Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato City, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos City) in Mindanao.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II learned from Hernandez that a letter was sent way back in July asking the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar to take action against the scam.
Apart from Hernandez and Sema, the letter was signed by Representatives Jesus N. Sacdalan, Nancy A. Catamco, Jose L. Tejada, Pedro B. Acharon Jr., Suharto T. Mangudadatu, Horacio P. Suansing Jr., and Rogelio “Ruel” D. Pacquiao of the Provinces of South Cotabato, Maguindanao, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani Province respectively.
The legislators asked Villar to stop payment of claims in Region 12 considering numerous transactions involving billions of pesos of funds are either spurious or based on fabricated documents.
The congressmen also requested Villar to conduct an investigation over the transactions as they believed a criminal syndicate was behind these projects and it has been engaged in theses activities for many years.
