Emano to push for limited terms of two, 5-year terms for local officials
Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano said that the 2-term limit for elected officials was proposed during the meeting initiated by the Senate Committee on Local Government.
“Instead of the 3 terms equivalent to 9y ears in service, it was proposed that we make it to 2 consecutive terms but 5 years per term,” Emano said.
He said that the aim of the proposal was to give opportunities to those who are bidding for the position.
Emano though said that before the new terms could be implemented, the 1987 Philippine Constitution should be amended.
