Di kasi sugarol: Pulong says wife wasn’t a Resorts World fatality
Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo “Pulong” Duterte has clarified that his wife was not among the fatalities in the deadly Resorts World Manila attack last Friday (June 2).
“I would like to correct reports indicating that my wife, Councilor January Duterte, was among those who were trapped at the Resorts World Manila when the unfortunate attack happened,” the politiko was quoted as saying in a Davao Today report Sunday (June 4).
“I even received a text from Mr Rafael Alunan, who asked for confirmation. I believe Mr Alunan has also mentioned this in one of his television interviews. For the information of the public, there is no truth to these reports,” the Vice Mayor added.
Pulong, who is the son of President Rodrigo Duterte, underscored that his spouse is not a gambler.
The younger Duterte said his wife could have been mistaken for his ex-wife, Lovelie Sangkola Sumera. Duterte and Sumera have been separated for 13 years.
Some 37 guests and employees perished at Resorts World after a lone gunman suffocated them by burning gaming tables. The attacker, who tried to loot the establishment, subsequently burned himself to death.
