Davao City ranks 1st in ‘Batang Pinoy Mindanao Games’
Davao City has emerged as the top placer among the 46 local government units, which participated in the recently-concluded “Batang Pinoy Mindanao Games” hosted by Misamis Occidental province and Oroqueta City.
General Santos City and Davao del Norte were at the second and third spots, respectively, from the week-long event held from March 6-12, according to the Medal Tally posted at the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Facebook page.
“All 1,266 medals have been awarded and final results have been validated and filed after 7 days of healthy competition among Mindanao athletes,” PSC said.
President Rodrigo Duterte’s home place garnered 64 gold medals, 34 silver and 27 bronze or a total of 125 medals, according to the Medal Tally.
Zamboanga City landed at fourth place, followed by Koronadal City, Tagum City, Cotabato province, South Cotabato, Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City.
Those who won in the Mindanao Games are qualified to join in the Batang Pinoy Nationals to be held in Baguio City in September, PSC said. #
