Davao City declares Fil-Am businesswoman ‘persona non grata’
Davao City on February 13 declared Filipino-American businesswoman Loida Nicolas Lewis “persona non grata.”
According to a Rappler report, Davao City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, author of the resolution, said Lewis was declared persona non grata for her continuing attacks against President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Instead of attacking the President she could have just helped unite the Filipino people,” Dayanghirang explained.
He also said the move was in response to Lewis supposedly being behind the International Criminal Court (ICC) decision to conduct a preliminary examination into Duterte’s war on drugs.
Duterte earlier said Lewis “influenced” the ICC.
Lewis, who has criticized the Duterte administration’s bloody war on drugs, denied the allegation.
