Cusi: There’s more fun in Lanao del Sur after energizing 139 villages
Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi said there is “more fun” now in Lanao del Sur after 139 villages with over 6,000 households have been energized.
Cusi led Thrusday, May 17, the ceremonial switching on of electrical service to the coastal towns of Balabagan, Calanogan, Kapatagan, Malabang, Marogong and Picong. The municipalities had been without power for the last six years.
“There is more fun in Lanao del Sur, kasi may ilaw na. Kapag may ilaw at enerhiya, tiyak na may pag-asa, kaya naman asahan po ninyo, that we in the energy family along with our partners will continue to work until Marawi is fully recover,” he said.
Marawi City and nearby Lanao del Sur municipalities were affected by the five-month siege last year.
With their electrification, the six towns are now part of the consumer base of Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative (Lasureco), which now has 17,769 customers, the Department of Energy (DOE) said.
