It can’t be! Ozamiz politiko says Mayor Parojinog ain’t involved with drugs
Ozamiz City Acting Vice Mayor Michael Tagal doesn’t believe that slain mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. is involved with the illegal drug trade.
Tagal, in a Brigada News report Tuesday (August 1), said it’s possible that the relatives of Parojinog were the ones with drug links.
The local chief executive was earlier tagged as a narcopolitiko by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Tagal, who was a city councilor before his designation as acting vice mayor, also noted that there has been a reduction in the presence of illegal drugs in Ozamiz ever since Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido was installed as police chief.
Carrying search warrants, police swooped down on the Parojinog family compound early morning Sunday (July 30) sparking a shootout that led to the deaths of Mayor Parojinog Sr., Board Member Octavio Parojinog Jr., and 13 others.
The Parojinog camp and police are accusing each other of starting the gun battle. Nobody was killed from the side of the lawmen.
