Back to private life: Duterte accepts son Paolo’s resignation
President Rodrigo Duterte has accepted the resignation of his son, Paolo, as vice mayor of Davao City.
Duterte conveyed his acceptance of Paolo’s resignation through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
In a letter addressed to Paolo dated January 5, Medialdea said: “On behalf of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, this is to inform you that your resignation is hereby accepted, effective immediately.”
Copies of the letter were furnished Paolo’s sister, Sara, who is mayor of Davao City, and Interior Undersecretary Catalino Cuy.
Paolo resigned on Christmas Day last year over controversies connected to his first marriage to Lovelie Sangkola.
Among the issues which affected the President’s son were rumors linking him to smuggling, and his public spat with Isabelle, his daughter with Sumera.
Paolo will be replaced by Councilor Bernard Al-ag, who ranks first among the members of the city council.
