Back with a bang: Supt. Marcos gets new job as CIDG-SOCCKSARGEN chief
Superintendent Marvin Marcos, the police official tagged in the killing of Albuera, Leyte mayor Rolando Espinosa, is back in active service a day after President Rodrigo Duterte supported his reinstatement.
A report by GMA News Online Thursday (July 13) quoted Chief Supt. Cedric Train of Region 12 as saying that Marcos has been appointed as head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-SOCCKSARGEN, effective July 11.
In Camp Crame, PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said Marcos should be allowed to go to work since he was still on the government’s payroll.
Gamitin natin siya, sayang naman. Sumusuweldo siya tapos wala siyang trabaho, ‘di ba? Dapat magtrabaho siya,” he said.
Duterte on Wednesday (July 12) said Marcos should be reinstated since he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Marcos and 18 others are facing criminal charges in connection with the killing of Espinosa and Raul Yap. The police claimed the two engaged their officials in a shootout while a search order was being served in jail.
Last month, the Department of Justice downgraded the charges against Marcos and the other policemen from murder to homicide.
