Alvarez says he’s allowed to have multiple partners. Here’s why
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, who has admitted to having an ongoing extramarital affair, revealed that he’s actually part of the Manobo, a tribe wherein having multiple spouses is accepted.
This was shared by the outspoken Alvarez in ABS-CBN reporter RG Cruz’s blog.
“Ako po ay miyembro ng isang tribe sa Mindanao kung saan po puwede po sa amin yung multiple marriages,” said the politiko, who represents Davao del Norte in the House of Representatives (HOR). He identified it as the Manobo tribe.
Alvarez and his wife, Emily, do not live together anymore. He nonchalantly said in one radio interview months ago that he has a girlfriend.
The Speaker even kicked out the Congressional Spouses Foundation Inc. (CSFI) from the HOR, despite the fact that the group is headed by his wife.
Incidentally, Alvarez is aggressively pushing for a bill that would allow Filipinos to “dissolve” their marriage once they are no longer happy with their partner.
He however said that he doesn’t need such law for himself since he’s Manobo.
