Nograles on Supt. Marcos reinstatement: He’s still innocent, you know
For the record, Police Supt. Marvin Marcos remains innocent until proven guilty.
Thus, said Davao City 1st district Rep. Karlo Nograles as he defended President Rodrigo Duterte’s reinstatement of the controversial official.
Marcos was recently reinstated as head of CIDG Region XII. He is the police official charged in the killing of detained Leyte town mayor Rolando Espinosa last year.
“The President is also correct in reminding us that everyone should be proven guilty first and not presumed guilty until proven innocent. As a lawyer and former prosecutor, he knows what he is talking about,” Nograles said.
“Tandaan natin tuloy pa rin ang kasong homicide sa RTC laban kay Supt. Marcos pagkatapos ng apat na buwang suspensyon bilang administrative penalty,” added the congressman.
As a lawyer himself, Nograles said it’s premature to declare any wrongdoing on the part of Marcos and his team when they conducted the operation that killed Espinosa, a suspected drug lord, inside a detention cell.
No less than Duterte linked Espinosa to the drug trade.
